Privacy Policy

NIX Scoreboard is a free app from NIX Development LLC (“NIX,” “we,” “us”). It turns spending less time on your phone into a friendly competition: you track your own screen time, add friends, form groups, and compete for the lowest screen time. We wrote this policy to be read, not to hide behind. Our rule is simple: collect as little as possible, use it only to run the game, and never sell it.

The most important thing:your Apple Screen Time data never leaves your device. Apple's system architecturally prevents any app from reading your real Screen Time figures (total minutes, per-app usage, pickups) and sending them off the device, and we do not attempt to. The numbers on the leaderboard are produced on your own iPhone and are the only screen-time information that reaches us.

How screen-time numbers work

NIX Scoreboard uses Apple's Family Controls framework in individual mode, meaning it is self-tracking on your own device, for yourself. It is notparental monitoring, and it does not let anyone else watch your phone. When you grant Screen Time access, you pick which apps or categories to track using Apple's own picker; we never see which specific apps you chose.

On your device, the system watches for usage milestones and tells the app the approximate amount of tracked screen time for the day (a rounded figure, not your exact minute-by-minute usage). This number is computed entirely on your iPhone by Apple's framework. You may optionally fine-tune it to the exact figure shown in your iOS Settings, and you may attach a screenshot as proof. The number you submit (and only that number) is what we store so it can appear on your group's leaderboard.

Categories and your token score

You sort your own apps into five categories: social, games, entertainment, neutral, and productivity. Minutes in each category are weighted differently to produce a daily token score, where a lower score is better. To do this we store, for each day, how many minutes fell into each of the five categories, the resulting token score, and which categories you have set up.

We store the category totals, never the app list behind them. Which specific apps you put in “social” is chosen inside Apple's own picker and is never revealed to us. We only learn that, for example, ninety minutes of your day were social.

Your category breakdown is visible to people you compete with. Friends and members of your groups can see how your day split across the five categories, not only your total. If you would rather that not be visible, do not add that person as a friend or join that group.

What we collect

We do not collect your real Apple Screen Time data, your contacts, your location, your browsing, or per-app usage breakdowns.

What we never do

Who can see your information

Your email address, birth year, password, and personal daily goal are private to your account. Other users never see them.

Visible to the friends and group members you choose to compete with: your display name, profile photo, daily screen-time number, token score, your per-category breakdown, rank, badges, and the verification indicator. Group leaders can additionally see members' entries and any proof screenshots within their group.

One honest technical detail about photos. Profile photos and proof screenshots are stored with our hosting provider at a long, randomly generated web address. That address is not listed anywhere and is not guessable in practice, but it is not password protected either, so anyone given the exact link could open the image. Please do not upload anything you would not want seen outside the app. Removing a photo from your profile removes it from the app.

Service providers

We use a small number of vendors strictly to operate the app. They process data only on our behalf and may not use it for their own purposes.

We do not use analytics or advertising SDKs. There is no third-party tracker in this app.

Data retention & deleting your account

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from inside the app (Profile → Delete Account).

When you delete, your account is deactivated immediately and stops appearing to other users. Your data is then permanently purged after a 30 day grace period, which exists so an accidental deletion can be undone. If you lead a group, leadership passes to another member or the group is disbanded. Backups roll off on their own schedule shortly after.

Children & age

NIX Scoreboard is for people 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your information, and to object to certain processing. You can exercise the core of these rights directly in the app (edit your profile, delete your account) or by emailing us. We do not sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of selling.

Changes

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
